Overview

Located in the heart of Issaquah, 12th Avenue Cafe offers a classic American diner experience that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Nestled at 775 NW Gilman Blvd, this family-owned spot is instantly recognizable by its charming red, black, and white decor—a kitschy, cozy backdrop that perfectly complements the hearty, made-from-scratch comfort food they serve.

The menu at 12th Avenue Cafe is a celebration of diner staples with a creative twist. Standout breakfast dishes like the French Toast Combo and the delightful Mickey Mouse Pancake bring a sense of fun and familiarity, while the Huevos Rancheros showcases their ability to blend flavors with a hearty southwestern flair. For those seeking savory indulgence, the Patty Melt accompanied by crisp onion rings offers a satisfying balance of textures, and their Frosted Cinnamon Roll Hot provides a sweet counterpoint that’s impossible to resist.

Whether you’re stopping in for brunch after an early morning hike or settling in for dinner, the cafe’s range is impressive. The Chicken Parmesan and Seafood Platter deliver generous portions, skillfully executed with fresh ingredients and traditional preparations. Not to be overlooked, their Anytime Favorites, such as the big bowl of beef chili and the fresh Quiche of the Day, pair well with comforting sides like mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables, or crispy fries.

Service here is consistently praised for being swift, warm, and attentive, reflecting the deeply rooted community spirit of a family-run establishment. Diners often remark on the welcoming atmosphere and the genuine care from the staff, which adds to the overall appeal. Though the space can get crowded during weekend rushes, the convivial energy and friendly buzz enhance the experience rather than detract from it. Be prepared for a true local flavor—not only in taste but in the lively, communal dining vibe.

The clientele feels like a mix of families, outdoor enthusiasts, and locals seeking hearty, satisfying meals without pretense. Portion sizes are generous, encouraging leftovers and takeaway, which speaks to the authentic value and quality of the food served. Favorites like the Friday-only prime rib special or the elegant Eggs Benedict stand out, creating loyal regulars who return time and again for that perfect balance of comfort and flavor.

In all, 12th Avenue Cafe captures the essence of an American diner while remaining connected to its Pacific Northwest roots. It’s a place where familiar dishes are lovingly prepared and boldly presented, where every visit feels like coming home to good food and warm smiles. For anyone passing through Issaquah or craving a hearty meal with character, this cafe is a must-visit destination.

Excellent food! Face it, when going out for a meal, good food is almost all that matters. This place is it. Family owned diner. Kitchy red, black & white decor but for you'll remember and a huge variety of made from scratch deliciousness. A lot of places will have 4, 5 or even 6 dishes that are tempting. This place has like 40-50. All American diner staples from meatloaf to open faced hot beef sandwiches, turkey dinner any time of the year to (only on Fridays) prime rib. Fast, friendly service and delicious food with portions so large every one walks out with carry out bags to finish at home. Highly recommended!

Been going here for 2+ years and every visit has been a 10/10 experience. The food is delicious and the staff is SO friendly. I’ve eaten an unhealthy amount of their Eggs Benedict (no regrets) and didn’t think it could get any better. I recently tried the Southwest Chicken Sandwich and wow… just found my new fix. I love this place!!

My friends and I came here for brunch after an early morning hike up Po Po Point; no view up top due to a thick fog. I ordered the German sausage sandwich, w Colby jack cheese & fries. It was delicious. The service was quick, friendly, and professional. We arrived around 10:15am and didn't wait long for a table.

Genuinely comforting and satisfying brunch food here. Biscuits they serve are lightly crisp and uniquely fluffy with real savory, meaty gravy. Hollandaise for their Eggs Benedict is good. I do wish their spuds were a lil more flavorful and cooked, but still filling and round things out. Environment is cramped and packed on weekends with not a lot of waiting space. Be prepared to stay outside.

Stumbled on to a "locals favorite" place. Family run and operated, in comfy diner decor. This place was mentioned by hotel staff as we checked in 3 days ago. Great recommendation. This is great diner food. Walking in about 630pm it was busy but the dinner rush was fading. We were waiting on by Kyke immediately as he hustled from table to table. Since it was Friday we both ordered the prime rib (special only on Fridays). It came with salad or soup, potatoes and gravy plus vegetable (corn) and bread pudding dessert included for a great price. The clam chowder was excellent, the salad fresh & crisp greens. The prime rib was enormous! Tender and flavorful topped with fried onions, yum! We both could not finish our orders and the server packaged up our meals and put the bread pudding in separate to go containers. We had bread pudding later - yum! Definitely will return when in the area. Highly recommended!

Hubby and I have been coming here before we had our kiddo and we still love coming here even if it’s a. It longer drive than when we used to ove beer here. We always get the Montana. We get the large and we take home what we don’t eat and eat it the next day for breakfast. Today is the first time we’ve tried the chili and it’s pretty good. I rave about these biscuits and jam and Hubby’s chicken friend steak was delicious! They are always coming around checking our coffee for refills and the staff are so pleasant to talk to.

Great spot for breakfast. This was a few weeks ago but we ordered their special which was Nutella French toast. It was absolutely amazing! It had raspberry with drizzled Nutella and Marion berry sauce. This definitely should be on the menu for all year round. The avocado toast was underwhelming. The avocado was brown and mushy. Toast was overly toasted. Tomatoes and mozzarella were yummy and fresh. Poached eggs were perfect.
